Artificial intelligence is everywhere in the conversation. But what does it actually mean for Ghana’s development — and how do we move from AI hype to real-world impact?

In Episode 1 of the AI for Sustainable Development (AI4SD) Podcast, host Ammishaddai Ofori sits down with Elisabeth Morzadec, Programme Manager at the French Embassy in Ghana, and Isaac Newton Acquah of The Innovation Spark to unpack the thinking, ambition and journey behind the AI4SD initiative.

They explore why AI and sustainable development need to be discussed together, what Ghana can bring to the global AI conversation, and how collaboration between Ghana and France can help connect research, innovation, entrepreneurship and practical development outcomes. The conversation also sets the stage for the podcast series; moving beyond abstract discussions about artificial intelligence to examine how AI is already being applied to real challenges in agriculture, education, healthcare, business, digital inclusion and other sectors in Ghana.

In this episode we explore:

  • Why the AI4 Sustainable Development initiative was created
  • The role of the French Embassy in supporting AI, research and innovation in Ghana
  • Ghana’s emerging AI ecosystem and its development potential
  • Why sustainable development must remain part of the AI conversation
  • The importance of connecting researchers, startups, policymakers and practitioners
  • What audiences can expect from the AI4SD Podcast series

The AI4SD Podcast is an initiative of The Innovation Spark, powered by the French Embassy in Ghana, exploring how artificial intelligence can contribute to sustainable development through research, innovation and real-world applications.

Subscribe and follow the series as we meet the researchers, founders and innovators turning AI from an emerging technology into a practical tool for solving some of Ghana and Africa’s most important challenges.
