Accion Ventures has promoted Ghanaian investor Jasiel Martin-Odoom to Principal, four years after he joined the investment firm to lead its Africa-focused investment activities.
Martin-Odoom joined Accion Ventures in 2022 as Africa Investment Officer, with responsibility for identifying and backing inclusive fintech companies across African markets.
His move to Principal gives him a more senior position within a global investment platform that has recently committed fresh capital to backing the next generation of inclusive fintech companies.
Since he joined Accion, the firm has added several African companies to its portfolio, including Kenya’s conversational commerce platform Flowcart, South Africa’s fintech Lula and Nigeria’s supply chain management startup, Field Intelligence. In 2025, the fund also led a $1.8 million seed round in PaidHR, a Nigerian HR technology company providing payroll, compliance and employee financial services to SMEs.
His promotion comes as Accion Ventures enters a new phase following the close of its $61.6 million second fund in September 2025. The fund is expected to make up to 30 new investments globally in early-stage fintech companies serving financially underserved consumers and small businesses.
