Deep Dive: Built Financial Technolgies, GrowForMe, and SAYeTECH secure $500,000 from Africa Ecosystem Catalysts Facility.

Village Capital’s Africa Ecosystem Catalysts Facility has deployed $500,000 in funding across three Ghanaian startups: Built Financial Technologies, GrowForMe, and SAYeTECH. The deal execution was spearheaded locally by our sister organization, The Innovation Spark and Reach for Change, leading end-to-end deal origination, ecosystem sourcing, and investment due diligence on the ground.

This latest deployment brings AECF’s total capital commitment in Ghana to $850,000, building on earlier transactions with healthtech platform Rivia Clinics and e-commerce logistics startup VDL Fulfillment.

Funding

Bluecore Energy raises $10 million to build portable nuclear reactors on barges

Bluecore Energy, co-founded by former Uber Freight executive Kofi Asante, has raised a $10 million pre-seed round led by Slauson & Co. The company is building Small Modular Reactors on floating ocean barges to deliver clean, off-grid electricity to heavy coastal infrastructure like shipping ports, industrial hubs, and AI data centers.

By placing nuclear generation on water, the startup avoids lengthy land-permitting delays and real estate bottlenecks while supplying constant power that operates completely independent of weak municipal power grids. This floating approach allows high-energy industries to cut carbon emissions and secure reliable electricity without overloading local power supplies.

Complete Farmer closes in on $12m Series A round after securing $9.2m.

Ghanaian agritech company, Complete Farmer has secured $9.2 million in an ongoing $12 million fundraise, according to an amended filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. The filing shows that US$2.8 million of the offering remained unsold at the time of the amendment.

M&A and Exists

Pangea Africa and Black Star Africa acquire majority stake in female-led fresh produce pioneer Eden Tree.

Investment firms Pangea Africa and Black Star Africa have jointly acquired a majority stake in Eden Tree, a leading Ghanaian producer and distributor of packaged fruits, vegetables, and herbs. Founded in 1997 by Catherine Krobo Edusei, the female-led agribusiness operates farms in the Volta and Eastern regions while partnering with over 110 outgrowers. The joint acquisition facilitates a full secondary exit for impact fund manager Investisseurs & Partenaires (I&P), which held equity in Eden Tree since 2015. The incoming investors will back Eden Tree’s expansion in processing capacity, cold-chain logistics, and regional retail distribution.

BawaHealth selected for the 2026 Futurize Health Incubator.

BawaHealth has been selected for the 2026 Futurize Health Incubator, a 16 week programme supporting high potential African healthtech startups. The startup is developing an AI-powered platform that helps hospitals deliver continuous care beyond their facilities through telehealth, AI-assisted clinical documentation, patient engagement, and digital health records designed for low bandwidth settings.

The programme provides mentorship, expert advisory support, and investor readiness training. The cohort will conclude with a Demo Day, where participating startups will present their solutions to investors and ecosystem partners.
