AI has become one of the defining forces shaping business, education and research over the past few years. Globally, companies are investing heavily in AI, researchers are pushing the boundaries of what the technology can do, and new AI products are changing how people work and learn.

Ghana is experiencing this shift. The 2025 Ghana Innovation Journal report found that applied AI startups attracted 3.2 times more funding than non-AI ventures between 2024 and 2025. Across the ecosystem, researchers, founders, educators and businesses are also exploring new ways to apply AI to problems in agriculture, healthcare, education, financial services and other sectors.

But beyond the funding numbers and headlines, a more interesting question is emerging. Who is building and applying AI in Ghana? What problems are they trying to solve? And where do they see the technology taking the country? These are the conversations we set out to explore with the AI4SD Podcast.

Hosted by Ammishadai Ofori, the series takes you inside Ghana’s growing AI ecosystem through conversations with the people working on the technology, building businesses around it and supporting its development. Across the season, we explore the opportunities and challenges they face, from scientific research and agriculture to education, business transformation and financial services.

The upcoming season will feature other notable executives, including Viamo Country Director Dr. Nii Lante Heward-Mills, MEST Africa AI Startup Program Director Emily Fiagbedzi, Jaza Rift’s Managing Partner Steve Sewu-Tawia, Intelli Co-founder & CMO Nana Sika Abokoma Antwi, Chatbot Africa Founder & CEO Ronald Tagoe, Fido‘s Business Development Lead, Philip Twum and Founder & CEO of minoHealth, Darlington Akogo.

New episodes will be released every Wednesday, with the AI4SD Podcast available on Ghana Innovation Journal’s YouTube and other social media channels.
