Ten innovative startups have been shortlisted as finalists in the second edition of the Circular Economy Competition.
The finalists include Merdeo Foods, a B2B food marketplace for farmers and restaurants; KODU Technology, a manufacturer of eco-friendly sanitary pads from plantain fibre; AgriMercarb, an agtech which provides quality and sustainable animal feed substitutes and Lali La Mode, the luxury eco-friendly clothing brand. The cohorts comprise two waste upcycling companies, St. Otiko and Nats Recycling. The other finalist includes Emobulance; Ecotech Solutions; Konzeman, and BioBalance.
The circular economy competition supports small businesses and startups operating in the circular economy ecosystem in Ghana. The competition aligns with the European Union’s support to Ghana to meet SDG Goal 12, i.e., “Responsible consumption and production”.
The competition supports innovative ideas and projects that promote resource efficiency across relevant sectors. The selected companies aim to deliver impact, pursue sustainability and scale locally and nationally. The ten teams will compete for the top prize of GHS100,000 in investment and technical assistance.
